Big news composting enthusiasts!

We’ve officially secured funding for our Moab Food Waste Minimization & Pilot Compost Program (a mouthful, we know) – and we couldn’t be more excited (or more ready to roll up our sleeves)! Right now, we are in the thick of the procurement process, working diligently to select the best composting system to set this program up for success. Think of it like choosing the the right tool for getting the job done – a tool that turns banana peels and coffee grounds into rich, earth gold!

This is a huge step forward and its happening thanks to the momentum and enthusiasm from folks like you. Whether you’re a seasoned soil-saver or just compost-curious, your interest is what makes this possible. We also have to give a special shoutout to Moab City Sustainability Department and USU Moab Extension for helping us write the grant!

In the coming weeks, this blog—The Compost Chronicle—will be your spot for updates, behind-the-scenes peeks, and everything you need to get involved. We’ll be sharing timelines, sign-up info, and maybe even a worm spotlight or two (they work hard, they deserve it). So stay tuned, spread the word, and let’s make food waste diversion and composting a community habit that grows Moab’s reputation as a environmentally-minded destination. We’re just getting started!
